Karen Crawford, President, has more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality management field. As a former Director of Sales in the hotel industry, Karen brings valuable insight when negotiating contracts for clients as well as an intrinsic ability to fit clients’ needs to specific properties. She also has prior experience in the airline industry, having served as a Sales Manager and Lobbyist for Gulf Stream International Airlines prior to starting CMC & Associates in 1996. Combining her experience in the hotel and restaurant industries, Karen’s expertise in food and beverage and budgeting has proven time and time again to help clients cut costs while putting on outstanding, memorable events. Her ability to stay within budget never fails to impress. As the leader of our team, Karen’s passion, enthusiasm and true concern for her clients are the driving force behind CMC’s success.
Fred Crawford, Vice President, has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry prior to joining CMC. Fred joined CMC after 14 years with the State of Florida, leaving the position of Quality Assurance & Training Specialist for the Division of Hotels & Restaurants within the Department of Business & Professional Regulation. He joined CMC as the Executive Director of the Florida Transportation Institute, a training branch of the company at that time. Fred is currently the Executive Director of FASD and is also Project Director for the AASHTO National Transportation Management Conferences, a position he has held for the last nine years. In addition, Fred specializes in contract negotiation and has successfully developed custom contracts for clients for events around the country. Fred negotiates over 150 contracts a year, focusing on limiting the liability of the client.
Debbie Moody, Director of Planning and Destination Selection, has over 30 years of experience in the travel & marketing industry and manages CMC’s Fort Lauderdale office. Debbie owned and operated her own Travel Agency for over 25 years and through her strong association with the snow ski industry she joined Club Med and became their top worldwide Manager of Ski Sales—a position she held for five years. Through her extensive world travels and experience as a travel agent, Debbie has a keen eye for destination selection. At CMC, Debbie specializes in client relations and finding the ideal fit for each client’s unique needs.
Liz Foreman, Director of Operations, recently moved to Tallahassee to take a permanent position with CMC after spending many years as an Onsite Conference Manager. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Sciences from Florida Gulf Coast University and most recently taught high school technology in Fort Myers, FL. During her teaching career, Liz has won various awards voted on by both her peers and supervisors. Liz brings an impressive attention to detail to CMC, while still being able to focus on the big picture as she oversees the day to day functions of the company and keeps things running seamlessly.
Stephanie Sullivan, Marketing and Conference Manager, graduated with her Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication from Florida State University and has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Mississippi State University. Stephanie has experience in marketing research, public relations, digital communication and advertising—handling everything from writing newsletters, press releases and blogs to conducting research and building strategic marketing campaigns. At CMC, Stephanie assists with all aspects of conference management but specializes in marketing and promotion, graphic design, website design and social media.
Mallory Norton, Conference and Housing Manager, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Event Management from the University Of Central Florida. Prior to joining CMC, Mallory has a background in resort and luxury hotel lodging services as a VIP Coordinator and has also worked with the NBA’s Orlando Magic in Premium Guest Services. Utilizing her hotel experience and superior customer service skills, at CMC, Mallory assists on many of CMC’s events as well as overseeing all housing management. She manages the housing program over 20,000 room nights around the country each year, including several city-wide events, and she leads our team in client satisfaction. Her eye for seeing the big picture while never overlooking the small details is a major asset to our team.
Shannon Runyon, Conference Manager, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from Florida State University. Shannon has impressive work experience in marketing, sales and event planning. Utilizing her passion for customer service and meticulous attention to detail, Shannon will assist in the success of CMC’s conference events.
Katherine Hughes, Conference Coordinator, brings a creative and detail-oriented eye to CMC & Associates. She has assisted in planning events that range from small intimate gatherings to large-scale events such as annual conferences that include tradeshows and golf tournaments. Katherine is well-versed in volunteer management and all facets of event planning, including concept development and logistics. She is currently working toward her Certified Meeting Planner designation.
